Definition
Information collection and analysis used to prevent targeted violence and support protective decisions.
Protective intelligence turns information into protective decisions. In secure transportation, movement generates information: routes, timing, vehicle profile, predictable stops, public appearances, venue approaches, and repeated habits. That information can help the protection team reduce risk, or it can help hostile actors plan an attack. Protective intelligence exists to ensure that the team learns faster than the adversary.
It is not an abstract analytical activity reserved for headquarters. It is practical. It influences whether a movement should proceed, be delayed, diverted, varied, reduced in visibility, reinforced, or cancelled. It informs route selection, departure time, vehicle choice, safe-haven planning, surveillance detection, and the driver’s real-time interpretation of the environment.
Protective intelligence also supports understanding of attacker behavior. Hostile actors often observe routines, identify vulnerabilities, test responses, select attack sites, and exploit chokepoints, embus/debus areas, or predictable schedules.
