Active Safety Systems
Definition
A vehicle system designed to prevent or reduce the likelihood of a collision before impact occurs.
Active safety systems matter because modern vehicles are no longer purely mechanical platforms. They interpret sensor data and may intervene in braking, steering, stability, and acceleration. This can protect occupants in normal road conditions.
For security driving, the driver must understand both the advantages and the limits. Systems may prevent a collision, but may also react unexpectedly during close motorcade movement, tight maneuvering, or attempted tactical input. The driver must know the specific vehicle.
