Electric Vehicles
Definition
A vehicle powered by an electric motor and battery, characterized by instant torque, regenerative braking, and charging requirements.
Electric vehicles matter because they are increasingly present in executive fleets and public-sector transportation. Security drivers may be required to operate EVs whether or not traditional training has prepared them for electric propulsion.
EVs can offer rapid acceleration and a low center of gravity, but they also have battery weight, range limitations, charging dependency, regenerative braking behavior, software controls, thermal concerns, and possible post-crash immobilization. These factors affect protective mobility.
