Weight Transfer

The movement of load across tires during acceleration, braking, or cornering, influencing grip and stability.

Weight transfer matters because a vehicle is not static while moving. When braking, weight shifts forward; when accelerating, it shifts rearward; when cornering, it shifts laterally. These changes affect how much grip each tire can provide.

In security driving, weight transfer is especially important with SUVs, armored vehicles, vans, and electric vehicles. Additional weight, high center of gravity, or sudden inputs can reduce stability and increase braking distance or rollover risk.
